Provides prescribed medical treatment and personal care services to patients in the hospital setting. Responsible for all activities in Acute Care, Observation, Swingbed, ER, Critical Care, Pharmacy, OR and Specialty Clinic areas through application of professional values, knowledge, and skills using the age specific nursing process. Provides assessment and planning for individualized patient care. Communicates with physicians about changes in patient’s clinical condition including but not limited to fetal monitoring and results of diagnostic studies. Responds quickly to changes in condition or response to treatment. Performs general nursing duties in all departments with adequate supervision. Participates in performance improvement activities. Participates in implementing low census, acuity status. Responsible for supervision of other nursing staff on duty including nursing assistants, LPN’s, Paramedics, and ward clerks.
1. Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
2. Current license as an RN in the State of Nebraska or holds a compact multi-state license.
3. BLS for healthcare workers within 3 months of employment.
4. ACLS, NRP, PALS, and TNCC certified as soon as possible after employment.
5. Must be knowledgeable of basic healthcare administration.
6. Must maintain continuing education credits as required for license renewal.
7. Strong written and verbal communication skills are necessary.
