The role you’ll contribute:
Responsible to the Chief Nursing Officer for the administrative oversight, coordination and management of Critical Care Service Line. The AVP of Nursing Services is responsible for organizing and administering the clinical services of the Emergency Departments, Intensive Care Units, Progressive Care Units and Respiratory Therapy Departments and implementing standards of care, policies, programs, and procedures as established by the company. Responsibilities of the AVPNS include ensuring timely, accurate, and complete documentation, ensuring all clinical regulatory requirements are being met, and responsibility for employee engagement, recruitment and retention.

- Provides leadership, support and participation in Hospital meetings
- Maintains safe environments through strict enforcement of all Infection Control policies and monitoring of effective and safe housekeeping practices
- Implements hospital standards related to staffing, budget compliance and productivity. Assure safe staffing levels are in place.
- Monitor rapid response team program.
- Review quality dashboards and implement action plans as deemed necessary.
- Implements core curriculum and competency validation through ALN.
- Meets corporate and regulatory requirements for documentation.
- Implements significant corporate clinical initiatives
- Follows and administers HR policies. Consults with HR Manager (HRBP) as needed. Attention given to: Attendance policy. Professional apprearance policy. Progressive discipline policy. Positive work environment policies and practices. Suspected drug diversion guideline.
- Cooperates in the formulation of policies and practices established by the Chief Nursing
- Plans with Medical Staff and Department heads for coordination of services and activities.
- Conducts daily clinical rounds on patients in various departments (Must round 1 floor/unit per day
- Assures monthly presence on night shift.
- Conducts monthly staff meetings that are accessible to all shifts
- Enforces grievance policy.
- Focuses on responsibilities for employee engagement.
- Develops a solid working relationship with the CEO, COO, CFO and CMO
- Provides ongoing assessment and feedback of performance for clinical employees.
- Focuses on controlling costs: purchasing and rental agreements, bed algorithm, wound formulary.
- Keeps the CNO informed of plans, equipment, systems,policies, and procedures.
- Meets CMS and TJC requirements.
- Develops a working relationship with professional organizations and groups and acts in leadership capacities.
- Represents the hospital to professional community groups and actively participates within and outside the hospital to promote its reputation, educational and research activities related to the quality of services.
- Completes an annual Nursing and Clinical Services Plan and Review as well as Nursing Services Strategic Plan.
QualificationsThe expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:
Minimum qualifications:
- Masters Degree in Business, Health Administration or Nursing
- Bachelor of Science, Nursing
- 5+ years of nursing management experience over multiple units in an acute care setting
- Registered Nurse FL license
- BLS and ACLS
