Provides for the care needs of the patients under the direction of the primary nurse. This position requires employees to demonstrate initial and annual proficiencies in order to remain in this position. CNA's may be asked to perform other duties within their scope of practice. Discretion and confidentiality are required.
Principal duties and responsibilities:
ChristianaCare, Union Hospital is seeking outstanding experienced CNA's for our Float Pool. Candidates must be willing to float to any of the following acute care cluster areas: MED/SURG, ICU/PCU, PACU or ED.
Evening/Midnight shift -12 Hour shifts from 6:30PM - 7:00AM with Every other weekend and rotating holidays
May perform all treatments and services within the scope of practice of the Certified Nurse Assistant Maryland state licensure.
Provides for the hygiene, personal care and activities of daily living, assisting patients with meals, measuring and recording vital signs and reporting abnormal vital signs to the primary nurse.
Perform accurate measurement of intake and output, perform EKG and finger stick glucose testing.
Other duties may include order entry into Meditech
Service Excellence to all customers at all times
Patient care competency
Adheres to patient safety regulations and initiatives
Vital Sign and AccuCheck competency (obtaining, documenting, and reporting accuracy)
Basic computer skills
Provision of nursing assistant care within scope of practice
Excellent interpersonal communication skills
Collaboration with multi-disciplinary team members
Teamwork and Flexibility
Scope, purpose, and frequency of contacts:
Daily frequent contact with all levels of Christiana Care staff, patients, and families.
Direction/supervision of others:
Assistant Nurse Manager
Education and experience requirements:
High school graduate or equivalent
Maintains a license as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in the State of Maryland, USA
Knowledge, skill, and ability requirements:
Perform optimally and efficiently in crisis situations
Perform work accurately with attention to detail within specified times
Handle frequent interruption and adapt to changes in workload
Work independently with minimal direct supervision
Set priorities and solve problems
Communicate optimally (verbal and written)
Discretion and confidentiality are required
Maryland CNA license required
BCLS Certification required
Prolonged standing, walking.
Physical and emotional stamina.
Risk Exposure Category A - Potential for exposure to blood borne/pathogens, HIV, Hepatitis B or Hepatitis C in the performance of this job.
