The Employee Health Services (EHS) Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides direct and indirect nursing care as directed by physician or mid-level provider for Penn State Health employees, volunteers and students, with particular emphasis in the area of employee/occupational health.
The EHS LPN utilizes established protocols and current standards of care to meet the wide variety of health care needs of the Penn State Health employee population including, but not limited to, pre-employment screenings, annual testing requirements, immunizations and other specialized testing for all healthcare workers including employees, temporary staff, volunteers, students and others.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Currently licensed as a Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania required.
3 years of experience in an acute clinic or ambulatory care setting required.
Current BLS certification required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
Advanced knowledge and skill in all aspects of immunizations for adults.
Knowledge of current literature applicable to employee/occupational health.
Knowledge and experience documenting patient care in an electronic medical record.
Ability to work in collaboration with EHS RN.
Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
Ability to make knowledgeable clinical judgments with appropriate scope.
Ability to provide emotional support with compassion and respect for the individual
Ability to provide support to the members of the care team (teamwork)
Ability to lift 25 pounds
Ability to deal courteously with patients
Ability to maintain effective working relationships with other employees
Ability to operate computer keyboard, terminal, and general office equipment
