The APP Administrator provides direction and administrative leadership for Advanced Practice Professionals (APPs) in a defined region or service line to ensure that APPs perform their essential roles with expected outcomes. Collaborates with Human Resources, the Office of Medical Staff Appointments, Division and Department heads, and clinic or hospital administration in the development and implementation of policies and procedures that apply to APPs in their region or service line. Will provide administrative organization, leadership, mentoring, committee representation including selection of representation for APPs at the regional or service line level and helps coordinate educational programs for APPs within the region/service line. The APP serving in this position will have designated administrative time (not to exceed 60%) at the discretion of regional/service line administration and CMO.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE
Provides patient services under the delegation of supervising physician and/or the designated supervising staff physician.
Interviews and examines patients to determine each patient's symptoms and prepares patient database to create or update patient files.
Performs comprehensive examinations and appropriate medical screening procedures and accurately, clearly, and concisely dictates or records complete and accurate information in patient records.
Completes and/or assists in the formulation of diagnostic, therapeutic and follow-up plans and/or treatment protocols as appropriate.
Interprets laboratory data as appropriate, and orders appropriate laboratory investigations while following established protocols and/or delegation. Follows-up on patient status and diagnostic tests as appropriate and reports relevant information to supervising physician.
Communicates with patient, supervising physician, and other patient caregivers in a clear and concise manner any information that may influence the patient's care, treatment program or well-being including preparing clinical progress notes and other required documentation in accordance with policies.
Provides recommendations to the regional CMO and regional clinic administrative leadership regarding any pertinent APP related issues.
Promotes appropriate utilization of APPs throughout the region.
Supports the recruitment, orientation, and departmental onboarding of APPs within the region.
Partners with other internal departments on issues involving APPs.
Maintains expertise on regulations and mandates from The Joint Commission and other governing bodies regarding APP practice.
Oversees processes regarding APP student clinical rotations throughout the region.
KEY SUCCESS FACTORS
Knowledge of Federal and State of Texas laws and legislation pertaining to medical board and nursing board governance of APPs.
Knowledge of Joint Commission mandates regarding APP practice in hospitals and clinics.
Strong interpersonal skills to interact effectively with a variety of medical staff and personnel; excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid rules.
Requires the analytical skills to collect information from diverse sources, apply professional principles in performing various analyses, and summarize the information and data in order to solve problems, or design relatively complex systems and programs that cross department/division lines.
Ability to guide, direct, mentor, train and work collaboratively in a team building environment.
Knowledge of computer systems, Electronic Health Records, Databases, Excel, Word.
Knowledge of national and state APP issues, preferred active in national and state professional organizations.
Knowledge of current system and institutional policies, bylaws, and credentialing requirements preferred.
Demonstrated ability for self-direction and initiation required.
Five years experience as an APP (PA or APRN) including three years healthcare leadership experience

- CERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION - Basic Life Support (BLS): Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire or transfer.
