The VA Northeast Ohio Healthcare System is recruiting for an Nursing Assistant. The Nursing Assistant will function in Nursing Spinal Cord Injury Service. Provide patients' personal hygiene by assisting with bathing/showering, shampooing, shaving, dressing, and toileting. Toileting includes the use of bedpans and urinals or assistance to and from the bathroom. Assists with ambulation in the hallway and changing the patient's bedding daily or as needed. Provides activities of daily living by assisting with serving meals, feeding dependent patients/residents diets as ordered by the provider or assisting patients with meals and including dysphagia patients/residents. Ambulates patients/residents including the use of assistive devices; turning and positioning patients/residents that are in the bed to help prevent skin breakdowns; skin inspections of all areas prone to skin breakdown. Uses fall prevention techniques including bed/chair alarms, low beds, floor mats, and other fall prevention techniques as outlined by the RN. Answers patient call lights and requests; safely transports patients in gurneys, wheelchairs, or transport chairs and reports all observations of the patient's condition to the RN. Completes hourly rounds on patients to assist with needs such as comfort, reporting pain to the RN, toileting, and assisting with getting out of bed, turning/positioning, preventing falls.
