The Chemotherapy Registered Nurse is assigned to the Oncology, Hematology and Infusion Clinic of the Cheyenne VAMC. Chemo RN provides compassionate care to veterans with oncology and basic infusion needs that can be handled in an outpatient setting. Nurse is responsible for safe delivery and monitoring chemotherapy cancer treatment medications. The Chemotherapy Registered Nurse is assigned to the Oncology, Hematology and Infusion Clinic. S/He adheres to nursing processes and evidence based practice to collaborate with other clinic staff in providing focused specialty care. S/He is responsible for providing direct patient care interventions, patient and facility education and complex case management. The nurse is expected to achieve and maintain certification as a Chemotherapy and Biotherapy provider. The Nurse is also responsible for the care coordination, and services internal and external customers in order to facility care transition to effectively meet patient needs.
