This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application. Learn more The RN assigned to Specialty Clinic performs in assigned clinical, administrative, and coordinating capacities and follows established guidelines to provide and coordinate health care for patients served by the Specialty Clinic. The nurse participates in the facilitation of access to Specialty care in the assessment of new patients, devising care plans, direct delivery of care and coordinating the care of others. The nurse provides education for patients and their families as relates to disease processes and care. The RN has a role in insuring safe and optimal care is provided, especially as it relates to patients undergoing procedures. The RN is engaged in unit efficiency management, including implementation of advanced clinic access principles and is responsible for ongoing evaluation and implementation of clinic efficiency enhancements (i.e. technology, scheduling, consult management, and unit operational practices) in collaboration with specialty clinic team members and physicians. The RN must demonstrate leadership in delivering and improving holistic care to the adult and geriatric population through collaborative strategies and in compliance with the Michigan Practice Acts, SGNA guidelines, in addition to BCVA Medical Center and Department standards. The RN provides direct nursing care to individual and groups of patients under the guidance and direction of the Nurse Manager and assists with the direction and supervision of other assigned clinical and/or clerical staff. The Specialty RN, in addition to covering other duties as assigned, will cover the following clinics: Pain Management Opioid Reassessment, Rehabilitation, Dermatology, Wound, and nursing clinics including bubble studies, fibroscans, vaccines, dressing changes and bladder scans.
