This Nurse Manager position is located in Nurse Service at the West Haven, CT location. This position is a Full-time at 40 hours per week. Nursing is recruiting for a Nurse Manager position for the Specialty Clinics West Haven campus. The Specialty Clinics encompasses medical and surgical subspecialties. This position is responsible for clinical and administrative functions, management of resources, coordination of care, evaluation of clinic workflow and day to day clinic operations. This position works collaboratively with the clinical service chiefs to improve and/or maintain access to clinics; to assure compliance with all scheduling mandates and/or directives; and to collaborate with the Group Practice Management and leadership on performance outcomes. The Chief Nurse of Specialty Care is the direct supervisor. Applicants must be flexible to work extended evening or weekend hours if needed for Veteran access. Responsibilities Demonstrates ability to function effectively in the Nurse Manager role requiring application of problem-solving skills and use of team approaches to identify, analyze and resolve problems. Completes all proficiencies/performance appraisals timely and accurately Tracks performance carefully during probationary period to ensure that new employees are meeting expectations; takes appropriate action when performance is less than fully successful Implements plans for the achievement of identified performance measures Maintains minimal overtime usage Monitors unplanned leave usage and acts as appropriate Fairly and consistently applies principles for disciplinary action when addressing behavioral problems Resolves informal complaints and grievances, develops work improvement plans, and recommends personnel actions Determines and adjusts staffing levels based on patient acuity/volume Monitors staff performance against established standards Establishes mechanism to evaluate staff compliance with scheduling rules Addresses impediments that are obstacle to smooth patient flow throughout the clinic Keeps staff informed of changes as it impacts the provision of patient care clinic operations and staff performance Maintains continuous survey readiness for assigned areas Completes timecard certification timely and ensures policies and procedures are followed for leave issues. Ensures completion of Mandatory Education in a timely manner by assigned staff.
