The Central Alabama Veterans Healthcare System is expanding its charge to vaccinate as many Veterans, their spouses and caregivers as possible. The SAVE LIVES ACT - Mobile Vaccine clinics will be located at VA Medical Centers in Montgomery and Tuskegee Alabama as well as the Montgomery VA Clinic and the Community Based Outpatient Clinics in Dothan Alabama, Ft. Rucker, AL, Monroeville, AL, Columbus GA and Ft. Benning, GA. The primary duty station for this position is at the Montgomery Campus. The Central Alabama Veterans Healthcare System (CAVHCS) Mobile Vaccine Clinic Team may be authorized to support additional Mass Immunization Sites as identified by CAVHCS Leadership. The Vaccine Clinic Registered Nurse provides direct staff and Veteran support in the Vaccine Clinic under the guidance of the Nurse Manager. The registered nurse provides care and counseling of persons in the promotion and maintenance of health and prevention of illness and injury based upon the nursing process. The following duties and responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to the following: Screens all recipient's pre-vaccine for potential concerns as identified by facility guidelines Educates recipient and administers vaccine as indicated. Documents vaccine administration using appropriate medical record system. Monitors pre and post vaccination for potential side effects and refers for additional assessment/care as indicated. Collaborates effectively with all disciplines and levels of care regarding patient care. Compliance with various Isolation Precautions and Infection Control Guidelines Skills in time management, priority setting, assessment and urgent intervention are required for this position Other duties as assigned. Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM (may include evenings and weekends as needed) Subject to change based on agency needs. Financial Disclosure Report: Not required
