GENERAL SUMMARY : The Inpatient/Outpatient Nurse Practitioner works collaboratively within a multidisciplinary health team and is responsible for providing and coordinating comprehensive care to both well and ill patients in the in-patient and out-patient setting. Intervenes in acute and/or chronic illness and coordinates care between in-patient and out-patient oncology services at Sibley Memorial Hospital and the Johns Hopkins Institution. Works with hospitalists, nursing leadership, and Medical Oncology Director on in-patient oncology services serving as the clinical resource for admitted patients from the Kimmel Medical Oncology clinic. Monitors quality of oncology care across the in-patient-out-patient continuum. Obtains appropriate histories, performs physical examinations, orders diagnostic testing as well as develops care and treatment plans. Other activities are in support of patient/family education, staff education, unit activities, and psychosocial care of patients and families.
